Obesity Treatment and Bariatric Surgery

Obesity is a chronic disease affecting millions of people worldwide and leading to serious health problems. At Interguiding, we offer our patients safe and effective obesity surgery options through expert bariatric surgeons at our partner hospitals.

Our Surgical Treatment Options

  • Sleeve Gastrectomy: Reducing stomach volume by laparoscopically removing approximately 80% of the stomach. It is the most frequently preferred bariatric surgical method. Patients can lose 60-70% of their excess weight in the first year after surgery.
  • Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y): Creating a small pouch at the top of the stomach and connecting it to the small intestine. It both reduces stomach volume and decreases calorie absorption.
  • Mini Gastric Bypass: A less invasive surgical alternative to classic gastric bypass.
  • Gastric Balloon: Temporarily reducing stomach volume with a balloon placed in the stomach via endoscopic method. A non-surgical approach.
  • Revision Surgery: Corrective surgeries for patients who have not achieved sufficient weight loss or who have developed complications after previous bariatric surgery.

Treatment Process

A comprehensive evaluation is performed before surgery: blood tests, endoscopy, ultrasound, dietitian and psychologist consultation. After surgery, you are supported with a personalized nutrition program and exercise plan. Check-ups are conducted monthly for the first 6 months, then at 3-month intervals.

Who Can Be a Candidate?

Individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or above who have been unable to lose sufficient weight through diet and exercise are candidates for bariatric surgery. Patients with a BMI of 30-35 who have comorbid conditions such as diabetes and hypertension are also evaluated.
